Our Eagle Mtn Slate flagstone, building stone and steppers (or patio stone) is all hand split. Basically, the guys find the natural “seams” in the slate and then use a chisel and hammer (and a lot of elbow grease!) to split the slate rocks. Watch the short video below to see how they do it!
Eagle Mtn Slate Exterior/Landscape Applications
After it’s split, it’s stacked on pallets and shipped out to customers who use Eagle Mtn Slate in numerous landscape projects… slate patios, dry-stack retaining walls, water features and much more. The flagstone they’ve been splitting this past week or two will be used for a project in Japan.
